NatroVital Chrysanthemum - 100ml Alcohol-Free Tincture

  • Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium) know as Ju Hua in traditional Chineses medicine is a flower with a long history of use for tired or irritated eyes, headaches, dizziness, liver support and the early stages of colds and sore throats. Although most people recognise Chrysanthemum as a beautiful garden flower, selected varieties have been used as both herbal medicine and tea in China for more than 2,000 years.

Chrysanthemum is particularly valued when the eyes feel dry, red, strained or uncomfortable. Traditionally, this was often associated with long periods of concentration, headaches, dizziness or a feeling of pressure and heat around the head and eyes. This long-standing connection between Chrysanthemum and the eyes remains one of the main reasons the herb is used today.

Chrysanthemum also has an interesting traditional relationship with the liver. Chinese herbalists have long linked the liver with symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, irritability, red or tired eyes and visual strain, and Chrysanthemum was traditionally used when this pattern was present. Modern research has since begun investigating Chrysanthemum for its potential to help protect liver cells, calm inflammation within the liver and support the way the liver processes fats, providing another perspective on this long-standing use.

Another important use is during the early stages of a cold, particularly when there is a dry or irritated throat, headache, a flushed or warm feeling, or tired, irritated eyes. Chrysanthemum is traditionally considered a cooling herb, making it more suited to this type of cold than one where the person feels chilled, shivery and wants warmth.

Chrysanthemum can be useful across several different situations — for example tired eyes with headaches, dizziness with eye strain, or a sore throat and headache at the beginning of a cold. This broad traditional use is one of the reasons Chrysanthemum has remained such a valued herb, particularly where symptoms involve the eyes, head, liver or upper respiratory system.

Energetic qualities: Chrysanthemum is traditionally considered cooling and slightly bitter. In practical terms, herbalists tend to choose it where symptoms involve heat, redness, irritation or a feeling of pressure, particularly around the eyes, head or throat.

NatroVital Chrysanthemum provides the dried flower as a concentrated alcohol-free liquid herbal extract. It contains Chrysanthemum flower, vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water, without artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners or unnecessary additives.

    How NatroVital Chrysanthemum is Made

We begin with dried Chrysanthemum flowers and use an alcohol extraction process to draw compounds from the plant material into solution. Chrysanthemum naturally contains numerous flavonoids and plant acids, including luteolin and apigenin compounds, chlorogenic acid and related caffeoylquinic acids.

Once extraction is complete, the alcohol is gently removed under vacuum at low temperature. This leaves the concentrated herbal extract, which is then blended with vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water to produce the finished alcohol-free tincture.

Using an extraction process rather than simply grinding dried Chrysanthemum into a powder allows us to separate the soluble constituents from the bulk flower material. The result is a concentrated liquid that is easy to measure, combine with other herbs and add to a small amount of water or juice.

Chrysanthemum has been drunk as a herbal tea for generations, but a liquid extract provides a different option for people who want the herb without having to prepare several cups of tea each day. It also makes it easy to combine Chrysanthemum with herbs such as Eyebright or Ginkgo when a broader herbal approach is wanted.

Locally Made with Integrity: Every bottle of NatroVital Chrysanthemum is made here in Australia in small batches. We manufacture our liquid herbs ourselves so that we can control the ingredients, extraction process and finished product rather than outsourcing production to a large contract manufacturer.

  • ◄What is the recommended dosage for NatroVital Chrysanthemum?
The daily adult dose is 5 mL, divided into two serves of 2.5 mL — one in the morning and one in the evening. One mL is approximately 20 drops. Add each dose to a small glass of water or juice, drink immediately, and swirl the glass to ensure any remaining liquid is also consumed. Dosages may vary depending on individual needs and practitioner guidance.
▼What We Often Combine with NatroVital Chrysanthemum in Clinic

Chrysanthemum can be combined with other NatroVital herbs and formulas depending on why it is being used:

    • For dry, tired or strained eyes: Goji Berry. Chrysanthemum and Goji Berry have traditionally been used together where tired or dry eyes occur alongside headaches, dizziness or visual strain.
    • For tired eyes where circulation is also poor: Ginkgo Biloba.
    • At the beginning of a cold with an irritated throat, headache or blocked nose: Elderflower.
    • When broader liver support is needed: Liver Stress. Chrysanthemum is included in this formula as part of its broader herbal support for the liver.

The best combination depends on the symptoms present and the area requiring the most support.

◄Is medicinal Chrysanthemum the same as the Chrysanthemum growing in my garden?

Not necessarily. Chrysanthemum is a large group containing many ornamental varieties bred primarily for their colour, flower shape and garden performance.

NatroVital Chrysanthemum uses Chrysanthemum morifolium flower selected for herbal use. We would not recommend substituting an unidentified ornamental garden Chrysanthemum for a herb that has been grown and supplied specifically as medicinal plant material.

▼Why choose NatroVital over other supplement brands?

NatroVital is a proudly Australian-owned and operated company founded by Greg Newson — a qualified naturopath, herbalist and nutritionist with over 20 years of clinical experience. Our herbal range grew from the same liquid herbs used in clinical practice rather than being developed simply to fill another space on a supplement shelf.

We keep our formulas straightforward. NatroVital Chrysanthemum contains the herbal extract, vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water without artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners or the collection of manufacturing aids often needed to produce tablets and capsules.

Every batch is produced here in Australia in small quantities. This allows us to remain directly involved in the herbs we use, the way they are extracted and what ultimately goes into each bottle.

◄Is NatroVital Chrysanthemum formulated with any preservatives or artificial ingredients?
No. NatroVital Chrysanthemum contains Chrysanthemum flower extract in vegetable glycerine and purified Grander water. It contains no artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners, fillers, binders or preservatives, and the alcohol used during extraction is removed before the finished product is bottled.
◄Is NatroVital Chrysanthemum suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians?
Yes. NatroVital Chrysanthemum is suitable for both Vegans and Vegetarians as the formula contains no animal-derived ingredients.
◄Are there any contraindications for using NatroVital Chrysanthemum?

Chrysanthemum flower has a long history of use as both a herbal tea and traditional medicine and is generally well tolerated when used within normal herbal dosages.

Allergy to the daisy family: Chrysanthemum belongs to the Asteraceae family, which also includes daisies, chamomile, echinacea, calendula and ragweed. People with a known allergy to plants in this family may also react to Chrysanthemum.

Transplant and immunosuppressant medication: Chrysanthemum may affect the way some immunosuppressant medicines are broken down by the body. An interaction involving ciclosporin and sirolimus has been reported, resulting in excessively high blood levels of these medicines. Chrysanthemum should therefore be avoided by transplant patients taking immunosuppressant medication unless specifically approved by their treating specialist.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: There is limited information available on the use of concentrated Chrysanthemum extracts during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so their use during these periods should be considered individually.

Other medications: No other clinically significant herb-drug interactions have been clearly established. If you are taking prescription medication, speak with your healthcare practitioner before using Chrysanthemum.
